Lynn and her husband John, moved from Alaska in 2004 because they had friends that relocated in Carlsbad and loved it. Lynn says the main reason they chose River Bend after looking at other retirement communities is the fact they would get all of their money back, except a small administration fee. They love the Christian community, the river and the quiet, safe environment. She says, "There are so many opportunities to volunteer that I find myself busier than when I was working. I absolutely love that!" Lynn walks the river 2 1/2 miles every day, rides her bike, plays ping pong and enjoys line dancing at the Sr. Citizen Center. She also volunteers in the Community Garden, gathering vegetables to take to the home bound.
Roseanna was born and raised in Carlsbad and moved to River Bend in 2009. Since she lives alone, she needed a maintenance free home where management would take care of any repairs or upkeep. When she first walked into her home, she immediately fell in love. She says, "I absolutely love living in River Bend. The people are friendly and look out for each other. I enjoy all the social activities and swim three times a week and exercise twice a week. When I need something fixed or repaired, I call Maintenance and they come right away. I love knowing that I never have to worry about the upkeep of my home. And I really enjoy the Community Garden, where I volunteer weekly. I suffered from diabetes for years, but now I am eating fresh organic vegetables and have lost over 30 pounds!" She also enjoys making zucchini bread for her neighbors.

"We actually did not have any hesitation or any reservation whatsoever in coming to River Bend...financially, what our needs were...it was just great!
